What Is So Unique About This Flag?

We recently had the opportunity to frame an antique flag. Our customer is turning an old barn into a wedding / party venue, where she will hang the flag. She also brought us some of the old barn wood to build the frame.

Because the wood is so old and weathered it has some unique characteristics, so we used that to our advantage. Notice the added dimension in the corners? It not only adds decoration, but adds strength and stability too. It is a rather large frame, so plexiglass was used to keep it at a manageable weight.

Several different archival methods were used to attach the flag to a sturdy background, keeping it taut and straight. This will be a beautiful addition to her barn party venue!

(answer: It has 48 stars. Alaska became the 49th state on January 3, 1959 and Hawaii became the 50th state on August 21, 1959)
